Gena Ellett’s writing has appeared in publications across North America. She was longlisted for the 2021 CBC Nonfiction Prize, the 2018 CBC Short Story Prize, and was awarded the 2018 Charles Lillard Founders’ Award for Nonfiction. In 2018, she was selected by the RBC Charles Taylor Prize as a top Canadian emerging nonfiction writer for their mentorship program. She was nominated for a 2016 National Magazine Award in the category of Personal Journalism.
She completed an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia in 2017, and is currently at work on a novel.
Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Gena lives and writes in Vancouver, British Columbia, with her dog Lulu Belle.
